Since I know all of you here have kids I need to ask for some advice. With the warm weather fleas have been brought in to the house. I need to find a way to get rid of them, completely...Some say bomb the house, some say don't bomb the house. I have two small children, both under 3 and they have many toys. If I do bomb the house, what am I supposed to do with their toys? What if some of the stuffed toys have fleas on them that can't be seen? I have hardwood floors, all through the house, except the bathroom and that is tile...so what should I do? What should I use? I want to get rid of the fleas...I do not want my children suffering through flea bites. Thanks ahead of time for any tips and suggestions.

I think you are supposed to put all the toys in bags and let them sit there for a few weeks so that all the fleas/nats die.

Stuffed animals, pillows, all that stuff gets stuck in a bag for a couple of weeks until the eggs hatch and the fleas starve. Before you bomb the house, I'd suggest trying the method of washing every cloth item in very hot water, changing the bedding and all twice a day, and putting away every stuffed animal or article of clothing you don't need. If in a couple of weeks the flea problem hasn't gone away, or if it continues to get worse, then you can bomb the house.

Did they fleas get in the house randomly, or do you have pets? If you have pets, you should talk to your vet about... oh, that stuff that they stick on your pet's neck, and it kills any flea near them without poisoning anything else. Also, you should get your pets checked for worms pronto.

I say bomb the little suckers. When we moved in with my grandma she had a major flea problem and Elijah had so many bites it was horrible. We treated the animals and bombed the house. There weren't any problems with toys and no more fleas.

Have you tried calling an exterminator? Maybe their prices will be in your $range, and a lot less hassle for a job well done.

We have a dog and we use Advantage on him and he doesn't have any fleas. I'm not sure if this will help with fleas in the house but it definitely helps with the dog.

I also put a flea collar in the vaccuum and use flea control powder when I vaccuum and that will keep and eggs that you vaccuum up from hatching and growing into more fleas.
What about washing the stuffed toys in hot water and lysol?

The best way to get rid of fleas is to treat your animals at the same time as your home. We had flea issues when I was pregnant, so bombing was NOT an option. What we did is get the pills for our cats and wash bedding, pillows etc. We also vaccumed every day for about a week. Eucalyptus leaves scattered below your beds and sofas and area rugs will also serve as a repellent.

The most important thing is treating your pets, though - dog and cat fleas can NOT live on human blood. They'll take bite, decide they don't like it, and jump right off.
