I was invited to take part in a baby book exchange, where each person only sends out 1 book the first kid on the list (then sends out letters with instructions to participate to 6 friends), and in return, you end up getting 36 books back. Hopefully that made sense the way I put it. Anyways, I did one of these things in high school and it was pretty fun (however we were sending out pairs of new underwear instead of baby books, haha). It really can work if everyone actually participates. So if any of you lovely ladies would like to give it a go, let me know. I need 4 more people to send the letters to.
Please only say yes if you will actually participate though.
You can send me your address at: knitwithknives@gmail.com if you don't want it broadcast over LJ.

I didn't get 36, but I got several. High School kids aren't the best for following through on these sorts of things. haha.
Also, on this book exchange, you put the baby's age next to their name so the books they receive are age appropriate, so really it could be for toddlers and so on as well.

How do I wind up getting 36 back?
I don't even think I know 6 people to send the letter to lol.

you send it to 6 people who send it to 6 people. in all 36 of those letters, your kid's name is at the top of the list.
It's kind of hard to explain here, but I promise it makes sense.
My thinking is, what do you have to lose really, a couple bucks for a book+shipping. You could even send a used book if you want.

If everybody understands that it'll ultimately collapse, and they're just having fun and understanding the risks, it's not really a problem, but this sort of thing has to be approached with care. (Doing the same thing with *money* is considered gambling, by the way.)

This.
It is totally just for fun. Not asking for money or anything goofy like that. And you may not end up getting 36 books (as that relies on every single person following through, and the odds of that are slim probably), but you will probably get at least a few. It's a good trade, IMHO. I mean, I know for sure at least some people will do it and you will get some books, as I have already sent my book out...

But there's always somebody who takes this sort of thing way too seriously.
Incidentally, before anybody gets bright ideas involving money (please god no) they should read what the USPS has to say on the subject.
