Earlier this week my son puked all over his carseat. The seat pad is machine washable, so no problem getting the smell out of that...but what can I do to get the smell out of the straps?!?
The care directions in the carseat manual say you shouldn't submerse the straps, just spot clean with mild soap (I tried some method hand soap), but that did not get the smell out at all. Is there anything else I can do to remove the smell without compromising the integrity of the straps? Vinegar? Baking soda? Febreze? Something else? The straps on his carseat do not appear to be a replaceable component on his carseat model (Evenflo symphony 65...disappointing but not surprising consider the unusual threading path and retractors might be a little too complicated for the "average" consumer to re-thread correctly). It's been an expensive month for us already, so my husband is not keen on spending money on replacing the entire "still working" carseat...so am I just going to be stuck with a stinky carseat till he outgrows it? Or is there some other safe way to deodorize?
