Family acomidations in Hawaii

Anyone have any recommendations for family friendly places to stay on the big island, or can recommend houses or condos for rent that you liked? We have three kids under six, I am pregnant, and we have not been on vacation for almost five years, so all my old ideas for places won't work. We want two rooms or a bed room and a pull out couch, a kitchen so we can do most of our own cooking, and not break the bank expensive. Also any ideas for things to do or avoid as a family would be awesome. I will be starting my own research tomorrow, as hubby just announced that he is serious about taking us, but I figured I would seek the wise council of other parents who may have already done a similar trip to what we are planning.
