Hey P101. It's been years. But I have a terrible secret. My five year old (almost six) is still peeing his pullups nightly. And I'm at a complete loss. I'm sure this has been discussed before, but please bear with me, I have not been to this community in years! We have been actively trying to night train him but nothing is working. I've tried a sticker/reward system that he's very excited about, and it's realistic, but he just cant get that first sticker. I've cut down his fluids after 5pm, but you wouldnt believe how heavy this kid's pullup is in the morning. For the past week I've been trying to wake up him up before I go to bed to use the bathroom. I've always been against this idea and this was sort of last resort. This first night was great- he woke right up, used the bathroom and went back to bed no fuss. But he still woke up wet, and he was really upset. I told him it was okay, I was proud of him for trying, we would keep trying. Each subsequent night, I could not get him to wake up. And if I helped him out of bed, he would just curl up on the floor and go back to sleep. I got him sitting on the potty at one point and he fell asleep and wouldnt use the bathroom. I tried different times of night because I figured maybe I was trying to rouse him in the middle of his deepest REM cycle but it wasnt any help. In the morning he has no memory of me trying to wake him and he's upset that I didnt get him up. He IS waking up around 6am, using the bathroom, and then going back to bed. We have that one small victory. I've also explained to him how bladders work, and REM cycles, and basically how he needs to be aware of how full his bladder is, and when he needs to empty it. So what else can I do here? Am I the only one with an almost six year old wetting the bed every night? I'm completely at a loss. I just want to help him the best way I can!
